ORGANISATIONAL SETUP

I. STATE LEVEL

     The Director of Agriculture is the Head of the Department and the following senior level officers are assisting the Director of Agriculture in respect of the programmes.

     1. Additional Director of Agriculture (Personnel Management & HRD)

     2. Additional Director of Agriculture (Extension)

     3. Additional Director of Agriculture (Inputs)

     4. Additional Director of Agriculture (Quality Control)

     5. Additional Director of Agriculture (Policy, Planning & Management)

     6. Additional Director of Agriculture (Research)

     7. Additional Director of Agriculture (Oilseeds)

     8. Additional Director of Agriculture (STAMIN)

     9. Financial Controller

Seven Joint Directors of Agriculture are working at Directorate to look after the subjects such as, Cereals, Cotton and Sugarcane, State Seed Farm, Pulses, Training, Research and Oilseeds. In the cadre of Deputy Director of Agriculture, 8 Officers are working at the Headquarter to look after the subjects of Policy Planning Management, Extension, Plant Protection, Fertilisers, Rural Sociology, Statistics, and two Deputy Director (Administration).

One Executive Engineer for Seed Processing Units and one Agricultural Chemist are also functioning at Headquarters. Besides 15 Assistant Directors of Agriculture, four Administrative Officers, one Accounts Officer, Twenty Five Agricultural Officers and one Assistant Accounts Officers are also working at Headquarters to look after various subjects. One Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies and one Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies are also functioning to look after the audit matters of TANCOF.

II. DISTRICT LEVEL

There is a Joint Director of Agriculture incharge of all activities in the District. He is assisted by the Subject Matter Specialists (Training and Visit) (Agronomy) (Plant Protection) and (Information and Training) to look after the Departmental extension activities. There is one Deputy Director of Agriculture (Seeds) and one Assistant Director of Agriculture (Quality Control) positioned in the districts for monitoring Seed Production and distribution work and Quality Control work respectively. One Deputy Director of Agriculture to look after the Oilseed activities in the districts and one Deputy Director of Agriculture to look after the Farmers Training Centres are also functioning in the districts. In addition one Deputy Director of Agriculture(PPM)/Personal Assistant (Agriculture) to each District Collector has been positioned to assist the collector in overseeing the implementation of Agricultural schemes and to coordinate with other Departments for effective implementation of such schemes.The analytical laboratories are functioning under the control of Agricultural Chemist/Assistant Agricultural Chemist.

III. BLOCK LEVEL

At Block level, the Assistant Director of Agriculture are incharge of Agricultural Development activities and they are vested with pay drawing and other related financial powers over the agricultural staff of the block. There are one to three Agricultural Officers (Training and Visit) one Assistant Seed Officer, Deputy Agricultural Offficers, about 10 Assistant Agricultural Officers and Two Field Demonstration Officers in each block under his control.
