Girdling

Removing a strip of bark from branches or stem which blocks the downward translocation of carbohydrates, hormones beyond that constriction and rather accumulate above it.

Grafting  

The process of putting a shoot or bud from one tree or plant into slit in another tree or plant, so that it will grow as a part of the host.
A sexual propagation method in which a scion or bud plant is placed in innate contact with another until they grow together.

Greenhouse effect

The effect of short wave radiation can easily pass through the atmosphere to reach the earth’s surface while the outgoing radiation from the earth are not permitted to pass through the atmosphere especially it is cloudy.

Green leaf manuring  

Perennial shrubs are specifically planted for this purpose along roads and wastelands, and their leaves are brought onto the field to be ploughed into the soil. It is the similar to green manuring. One tonne of leaf, on an average, yields about 5 kg of Nitrogen. The common species of plants grown for green manure are Gliricidia maculate, Pongamia vitex etc.

Green manure

A crop planted with the intention of turning it under for use as organic matter.
Any crop plants grown and incorporated back into the soil when succulent to improve the soil especially by addition of organic matter.

Guttation :

The exudation of water from the ends of the vascular system at the margins of leaves under humid conditions.

Gynophore  

The portion below the ovary which grows into a peg like structure as a result of the stimulus of fertilization.

A castrated male horse.

Gilt

Sexually mature female hog, prior to having her first litter.
