Homologous Vaccine against Peste Des Petits Ruminants
- PPR is an acute, highly contagious and fatal rinderpest like disease of small ruminants and in unprotected animals the mortality may reach 60-70%.
- PPR virus first reported in India in 1987 from an outbreak in Tamil Nadu and since then the disease was reported from all over the country.
- The vaccine contains live PPR virus adapted and attenuated in vero cells by serial passage for 75 times.
- Field trials were conducted using 50,000 doses in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and West Bengal.
