Phomopsis fruit rot: Phomopsis caricae-papayae
Symptoms:
- Affected fruit develops a water-soaked spot which increases in size.
- The whole area becomes soft and pulpy.
- The rotten area turns dark brown to black and get depressed and cracks at a later stage.
- Water-soaking is seen in the area surrounding the diseased portion.
- All the stages of fruit are infected by the pathogen.

Management:
- Borax, benlate, captan, difolatan and dithane M-45 are effective.
