STATE-WISE BREAK UP OF WILDLIFE SANCTUARIES (MAY. 2008)
There are 513 existing wildlife sanctuaries in India covering an area of 118,417 Sq.Km, which is 3.60% of the geographical area of the country (National Wildlife Database, March. 2009). Another 219 sanctuaries are proposed in the Protected Area Network Report covering an area of 16,669.44 Sq.Km.
