In one acre of land, 800 plants are planted. All soils are suitable for this crop viz., red, clay, and clay loamy and grown in Vellore district. After field preparation, plants are planted at a spacing of 5x5 feet interval. For line planting, rope is used. Furrows are made for plant to plant. Irrigation is given to the field once in two weeks. Flowering will start six months days after planting. Pruning is done in the month of July (yearly once). Flowering is start during the month of October –February. The yield will be given upto 5 months per/day. The total yield per plant is 100kg. the market rate is Rs.15-20/kg. wages for picking process is Rs.12/kg the expenditure for one acre of land is Rs.5000/- Jathi mullai is mainly used for panner preparation. |
