The fruits are firm fleshed and medium in size weighing about 7-10 kg. Patch budding is done in 3-5 months old rootstock seedlings during January –February and October-November was found to be very successful. In all the varieties of jack during the pre bearing age, pulses are raised as intercrop and dried leaves are spread below the trees to serve as mulch for moisture conservation.
The type and bearing habit is called “cauliflorus”. The fruit buds should be protected from any positive damage by rubbing the body of the stray cattle such as buffaloes through spreading dried thorny bushes. This is very essential especially when there is no proper fence in the fields. |
