Kariyilai Poriyan (Tapioca)
As the name indicates, the tubers are black in colour. The variety has duration of eight months and cultivated in the tracks of Kanyakumari district. It is good and energetic table food also used as poultry feed. It possesses less bitterness in taste than other varieties. The tuber is sun dried. After cutting into pieces and the pieces are dried in naturally. It can be kept stored for 3 months. In pest and diseases, this is highly resistant to Tobacco Mosaic Virus and brown leaf spot respectively.
