Betle Vine (Vethalai)
The traditional “betel vine” variety is grown along with “Velimurungai” (Kalyana Murungai) which gives anchorage to betel vines. It is suitable crop for coastal sandy soils prevailing in Ramnad district. In the border areas, banana trees are grown and it gives higher crop intensity and also generates additional income. They are 150 banana trees surrounding around the border area of the 2 acres land and most of them are border crops in betel field. The field is irrigated by three wells and the water is available at 10 feet depth.
